Kortec Festooning Technology

In the nonwovens and hygiene industry, festooning became a synonym for a method of layering strip materials into boxes or onto trays for compressed film wrapped packs. Instead of winding a product on narrow width onto a roll or reel, strips are layered - by means of zigzag folding - onto a pallet forming a stack of material.

Festooning is the leading technology for products with one or more of the following characteristics:

• Narrow and/or thick
• Highly elastic
• Three-dimensionally structured
• Sensitive against winding compression
• Low running time on the converting line
• Bulky, resulting in high storage and shipping cost
